"Beat Yesterday" is both Ms Hoshide's personal, and teaching philosophy, as she strives to help her students become the best versions of themselves. A native of Seattle, Washington, Ms Hoshide graduated from Pomona College and later earned a master's degree in Japanese Literature from the University of Washington.

She has pursued her love of working with students for over 30 years, in institutions such as the University of Washington and Keio University. With U.S. certification to teach secondary English, most recently she has been sharing her love of literature and writing with middle school and high school students at the International School of the Sacred Heart in Tokyo.

Collaboration, feedback, and reflection underpin her teaching practice, which will complement the IB curriculum and case method methodology of NUCB International College. She feels her best teachers have been her children and students, and so she looks forward to learning even more with the students of NUCB International College.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and dog, running and swimming, reading, and studying Chinese.
