Sawa Sakakura
Biography
While enroled in the Japanese Language Department at Nagoya University of Foreign Studies, Ms. Sawa Sakakura spent a year volunteering in Sydney, Australia teaching Japanese to local elementary and middle school students. After graduating, she taught Japanese at the Japanese Language Department of Hanoi Foreign Trade University in Vietnam.
Upon her return to Japan, she went back to Nagoya University of Foreign Studies to pursue a master's degree and continue her research on the topic of second language acquisition of foreign children in Japan. Simultaneously, she gained experience as a Japanese teacher at the ECC Japanese Language Institute. During her studies, Ms. Sakakura devoted herself to helping children learn a second language through practical training in Japanese language education at Busan University of Foreign Languages in South Korea and by volunteering as a Japanese language instructor at a public elementary school.
Throughout her studies, she obtained an elementary school teaching license, a junior and senior high school English language teaching license, and a Japanese language teaching license. Before joining NIC, Ms. Sakakura was a full-time Japanese language instructor at a public elementary and junior high school with a large number of foreign students, where she taught Japanese and other academic subjects to foreign students and served as a link between the school and their parents.
