Founded in 1878 by Bishop Isaac Hellmuth (1817–1901), ‘The Western University of London Ontario’ opened its doors to students for the first time in 1881. Four faculties – Arts, Divinity, Law and Medicine were there at Western's inception. Through 12 faculties and three affiliated university colleges, Western offers today its 36,000-plus students more than 400 specializations, majors and minors. The University delivers ‘The Western Experience’, an exemplary learning experience that engages people to meet ever-higher standards in the classroom and beyond. With international recognition for their excellence and innovation in diverse fields, Western leads at home and abroad thanks to the construction of a state-of-the-art Richard Ivey School of Business in 2012. Drawing on extensive research and business experience, through Case-Method Learning, Ivey faculty provide students with the skills and capabilities they need to tackle today's leadership challenges. From the main campus in London, Ontario, Canada, selected as the most beautiful one in Canada, outward across every continent, Western prepares future leaders to succeed.
