Please introduce yourself.

My name is Suzuna and I’m in grade 11. I like to watch dramas and also play sports with my friends.

What made you choose to study at NIC?

I thought this was the best opportunity for me to grow as a person. Taking classes and living my daily life in English was a challenge for me as a Japanese person who grew up in Japan, but it motivated me to improve my English. I also decided to enroll because I thought I would be able to acquire various skills through my first time living in a dormitory.

What is your favourite thing about being part of the NIC community?

Everyone at NIC, including teachers, is warm-hearted and friendly. I feel like we can build strong friendships by working together, encouraging each other and improving in both academics and daily life. It is easy to ask questions and enjoy classes because of how kind the teachers are. I like that there are people from various backgrounds here, so we can help each other when we have problems.

What made you decide to join the student council? What skills do you think you can acquire and how can it help you achieve your goals in the future?

I decided to join the Admissions Council because I like telling people about the appeal of NIC. I have spoken about this school at open campus events and even outside of school with my friends and their parents and I thought it would be fun to share even more information about what makes NIC so great. Another reason why I wanted to join was because I love talking to people but sometimes I lack confidence and I want to improve my communication skills by interacting with more people in the future.

What do you want to be in the future? How can NIC and your role in the student council help you achieve this goal?

I haven’t decided where I want to study yet but I want to work in the aviation field as an air traffic controller. Studying at NIC will help me acquire the English skills necessary to achieve this dream. The case method approach to learning and my role in the admissions council will help me gain communication skills and the ability to stay more organised, which I believe is necessary for my dream job.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering joining NIC?

NIC offers many opportunities to gain experiences and skills needed for the future. There are many classes and activities that you can’t experience at other schools. You might be worried that everything is taught in English and you need to live in a dormitory, but the classmates, teachers and community around you are sincere and will help you with any troubles. You can also overcome various challenges together with your new friends so there is no need to be nervous! I think this is the best environment to grow in many ways.
