Pforzheim University was founded in 1877 as a School of Design and the School of Business was added later in 1963, with the School of Engineering being the latest in 1992, finally forming Hochschule Pforzheim. The city of Pforzheim is situated in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg in Southwest Germany, which is a very important economic region in Europe as numerous global companies such as Daimler, Bosch, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Michelin, Porsche, etc. are established in the area. Thanks to this geographical position, the university is characterized by intensive cooperation with this crucial business community, on top of its high academic qualifications as proven by its AACSB accreditation. With over 145 professors, the university is the third largest in the state and one of the biggest in the entire country.
