The İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University, commonly referred to as Bilkent University or Bilkent, is the first private, nonprofit university in Turkey with the fundamental aim of creating a center of excellence in higher education and research. The name "Bilkent" exemplifies this aim, since it is an acronym of "bilim kenti": Turkish for "city of learning and science." Bilkent University is ranked #112 worldwide and #1 nationwide in the Times Higher Education's list of the world's top universities for 2010/2011.
