On Saturday, 26 November, NIC students went to Morikoro Park to participate in traditional rice cakes (or "mochi" in Japanese) pounding at the Aichi Shichousoun Fair. The students greeted the Aichi Prefectural Governor Mr Omura Hideaki and Mr Mizuno Tomio of The Aichi Prefecture Assembly. The students also got along with Morizo and Kikkoro, the forest characters and official mascot of the 2005 World Exhibition in Aichi.
Weekend excursions are an integral part of NIC's Well-being Programme, designed to provide students with opportunities to enrich themselves culturally through discovering and understanding the traditions of Japan.
