This Winter, 17 students elected to participate in NIC’s winter ski trip in Rusutsu, Hokkaido. With some students having never been to Japan before, or even try their hand at snow sports, this snow trip was a great opportunity for them to experience some of the best skiing in the world in Hokkaido.
For three full days, students had the opportunity to explore the wide range of slopes in Rusutsu, catering to both beginners and experienced skiers and snowboarders alike. Many students embodied their Frontier Spirit in bravely challenging themselves with red and even black diamond runs; and four students who were brand new at snowboarding were confidently choosing to tackle black diamond runs by their final snow day.
Throughout this trip, students created lasting memories and a newfound appreciation for the beauty of Japanese snow, the excitement of learning a new skill, and the trust and support they have for each other. This trip marked an eventful high note to end their first term at NIC, as well as the year itself.
