NUCB International College Holds Third Annual Entrance Ceremony

On Sunday, 1 September, NUCB International College held its third annual Entrance Ceremony where we welcomed 39 new students from 17 different countries; this brings the total number of students at NIC to over 100 students from 23 different countries!

At the entrance ceremony, we heard many beautiful musical performances and wonderful speeches. The new student representative for the class of 2027, Hinako, gave a moving speech where she said, “I am honored to meet new friends and work hard together in this school where students come from all over the world.”  In addition, our Head Boy Hiroyuki and Head Girl Keeana shared some inspiring words in their speeches, encouraging new students to challenge themselves and grow into the strong leaders they can be.

After the ceremony, parents and students received separate orientations to prepare themselves for life at NIC. As per tradition, we ended the Entrance Ceremony with a photo session on the Boarding House steps and a welcome lunch party.

Since most of the new students at NIC will be living away from their parents or their own country for the first time, we have adopted the house system, commonly used in boarding schools so that students can get used to school life and dormitory life as soon as possible by deepening their interactions with each other. All students are assigned to one of four “Houses” upon entering the school: Pearl, Jade, Sapphire, or Ruby.

Students from the same House will be on the same team and participate in sports, academic contests, and other activities. In competitive activities, students earn house points based on their ranking, and the total points for each house are calculated by adding up the points awarded by the teachers to each student for academic performance and attitude. House points are accumulated throughout the year, and the winning House is determined at the end of the school year. The House system allows students to strengthen their bonds with their peers by supporting and encouraging each other regardless of grade level, thereby enriching their lives at NIC.

This year's House events began with the “School Song Chorus Contest” held after the Entrance Ceremony. New students not only learned the melody of the school song from their senior students but also deepened their understanding of the education at NIC and the image of students they should aspire to become through the educational philosophy incorporated in the lyrics. In the competition, students were judged not only on their singing ability but also on their unique choreography, which was filled with the individuality and ideas of each house. New students and upperclassmen were able to deepen their friendship by joining forces and expressing themselves hard through chorus and musical-like performances.

NIC Advantages

NUCB International College is designed to provide a world-class education with excellent facilities and a rich natural environment, on its 200-acre campus, in Nisshin city, Japan.

Excellence in Education

The case method, first developed at Harvard Business School in 1922 and now commonly used in elite academic institutions worldwide, is incorporated into the teaching approaches for leadership education at NIC. Small classes enable personalised supervision by multinational faculty members with master's or doctoral degrees and faculty from affiliated top business schools. In addition, the Summer School for prospective students (July) and a preparatory course (the Bridging Programme) for September admission are also offered.

Safe Boarding Environment

The school provides a safe and secure co-educational boarding environment with reference to international boarding standards. 'House Supervisors', who are well versed in psychological and health management, provide daily support and regular individual counselling to ensure optimal support and guidance for each student. Through living together with peers from different cultures and experiences, students develop the qualities required of the next generation of leaders.
