NUCB International College held its final Open Campus event of this year on Saturday, 11 December. In fact, it was the largest and most successful open campus event of 2021 for NIC. This open campus attracted students from Tokyo, Okayama, Yamaguchi, Hiroshima, Hyogo and other parts of Japan, as well as the central area of Japan known as Chubu.
Following a presentation on the exciting features of boarding school life, IB curriculum and an introduction to the Case Method, Principal Dennis Kelly spoke to our guests. As a proud parent himself of two children that graduated from an IB high school, Principal Kelly spoke frankly and honestly to the families in attendance as to the advantages of an IB education as well as the general types of questions they should consider when searching for a suitable school. Specifically, Mr. Kelly, advised parents to look for schools that offer excellent student support, have licensed teachers with master’s degrees, offer career guidance, personal development as well as skill development.
Next, the parents and students were given a tour of the NIC dormitory, which is nearly completed as well as the NIC school building, which is undergoing renovation. It was a beautiful day to be outside on the school campus: blue, sunny skies, mild temperatures and the foliage of the wooded campus was adorned in vibrant autumn colors.
Finally, the group was given an overview of the application process and entrance requirements, including helpful suggestions on writing the essay and preparing for the interview. Since many students are keen to apply to NIC, the open campus concluded with an opportunity for an individual consultation with a member of the NIC admissions team. Nearly, all the attendees took advantage of the consultation time.
If you missed the opportunity to attend this open campus, do not worry since we are planning more open campus and consultation events in the new year. Please check the NIC homepage for the schedule and details of upcoming events.
We wish all of you a safe, healthy and joyous holiday season and we look forward to welcoming your visit to NIC in 2022!
