NUCB International College《Boarding School》is accredited as an IBDP school

NUCB International School (NIC), which opened in September 2022, was accredited as an International Baccalaureate DP school as of December 12, 2022. This will enable students to pursue inquiry-based learning in accordance with the IB curriculum during their second and third years of high school, and to simultaneously obtain both a Japanese high school diploma and an international standard high school diploma upon graduation.

NUCB International College is a boarding school where students of diverse experiences and backgrounds; both from Japan and abroad, study together and develop into world-class leaders. The school has been approved by Aichi Prefecture as an Article 1 school, and all classes except Japanese (Japanese language) are conducted in English (as approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as a special exception school). With the International Baccalaureate accreditation, NIC is the first school in the Tokai area, and one of the few schools in Japan, to offer international education in a boarding school.

The International Baccalaureate is an international educational program headquartered in Geneva. There are four developmentally appropriate programs, of which NIC offers the Diploma Program. The Diploma Program takes two years to complete, and students who achieve the required grades in the final examinations are eligible to enter some of the world’s top universities.

The IB emphasises inquiry-based learning in which students take the initiative in order to develop into internationally-minded individuals. NUCB International College runs the IBDP Curriculum alongside "case method education," to provide an education that cultivates the ability to discover and solve problems while developing international-mindedness.

Excellence in Education

The case method, first developed at Harvard Business School in 1922 and now commonly used in elite academic institutions worldwide, is incorporated into the teaching approaches for leadership education at NIC. Small classes enable personalised supervision by multinational faculty members with master's or doctoral degrees and faculty from affiliated top business schools. In addition, the Summer School for prospective students (July) and a preparatory course (the Bridging Programme) for September admission are also offered.

Safe Boarding Environment

The school provides a safe and secure co-educational boarding environment with reference to international boarding standards. 'House Supervisors', who are well versed in psychological and health management, provide daily support and regular individual counselling to ensure optimal support and guidance for each student. Through living together with peers from different cultures and experiences, students develop the qualities required of the next generation of leaders.
