Please introduce yourself.

Hello! I’m Wakaba, I'm in Y11. I was born and raised in Osaka, Japan, but moved to Tokyo 6 years ago.

What made you choose to study at NIC?

When I was little I attended an international kindergarten and gained some experience in global environments. Therefore, I had the desire to be in such an environment in high school.

What is your favourite thing about being part of the NIC community?

My favourite thing is how nice the people in the NIC family are. Unlike regular Japanese schools, we don’t have hierarchical relationships between different grades and everyone can talk freely among students from different grade levels. Also, I really love how students here are open-minded, and accepting of different cultures. I enjoy having thoughtful friends who surround me and always encourage me to further develop myself so that we can have mutual improvement by being in the same community.

What made you decide to join the student council? What skills do you think you can acquire and how can it help you achieve your goals in the future?

I decided to join this council as I love to communicate with people. Also, I thought that I would be very happy if my experiences could help people who are considering joining this community. I think this experience of being part of the admissions council will help me to acquire communication skills, and I believe that the skill can help me to achieve my dream of being a good communicator who can be dedicated to overcoming any difficulties.

What do you want to be in the future? What do you want to study and where? How can NIC and your role in the student council help you achieve this goal?

Currently, I don’t have a specific dream I’m working toward, and I’m still discovering what I truly want to pursue. However, I hope to become a person who fully appreciates everything I have and finds genuine joy in it. I’m interested in studying Biology, and I’m also considering universities where I can continue practicing the sports I’ve loved since childhood. I believe that NIC and my role in the admissions council will allow me to draw inspiration from those around me and strengthen my communication skills. This will help me find a future path that truly fits me and also allow me to grow as a person.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering joining NIC?

Placing yourself in a new environment can be quite challenging. However, it often brings unexpected rewards that go beyond what you initially imagined. Believing in yourself and having the courage to create a path you truly enjoy is far more important than striving for perfection. I look forward to seeing you at NIC!
