On Saturday, 10 July, we held a special information session at our Tokyo office. The unique aspect of this session was that it was held in English and followed by a mock case method lesson (also in English) by Professor Goi of NUCB Business School. In addition, amongst the attendees were participants of our forthcoming Summer School to be held from July 24-30 in Aichi. The case method lesson was quite interesting and it actively engaged both parents and students in the discussion. The lesson was based on a short business case "EASY TRAVEL 2021" which laid out a business plan for a new mobile application to create a 'Smart Travel App' in Nagoya City. Through discussions, the participants deepened their thoughts on whether the business plan was appropriate. The class also discussed how to improve the same business plan. Topics, questions and challenges included: "What is the most important thing in starting a venture?". All in all, it was impressive to see junior high school students actively raising their hands and expressing their opinions in English passionately. In fact, one student gave such a well thought out opinion that it caused two other students to reverse their answers and agree with him.
At NUCB International College, we will use the case method in all of our classes to foster independent, interactive and in-depth learning. The case method approach of teaching ensures that learning does not stop in the classroom, but rather allows students to develop practical knowledge and skills that can be used in real-life situations.
On Sunday, 18 July, we will be holding our Open Campus at Nisshin City, Aichi Prefecture, where we are planning to open our new boarding school.
This Sunday, you will be able to experience classes using the Case Method, see the student boarding house that is currently under construction, and be one of the first to see a sample of our school uniform!
If you are considering enrolling at NIC, or are interested in international education and the boarding system, this is the perfect opportunity for you to meet us.
