On Thursday, 23 September, we held our fourth Open Campus event of 2021. This event coincided with the first day of autumn, which is a national holiday in Japan. We were pleased to welcome more than 20 students, parents and other guests who travelled from prefectures around central Japan. The event was held at our Nisshin/Nagakute Campus under sunny skies and comfortable autumn weather.
This time again, we aimed to offer our guests a unique experience on our Campus so that they could imagine themselves in the role of being a real student at NIC. The schedule of activities ranged from a presentation about boarding life and an introduction by our principal, Mr. Dennis Kelly, to a mock demonstration lesson using the Case Method, which was taught by Mr. Darron Gray, who will be the DP Coordinator when NIC opens in September 2022.
In addition, we took our guest on a Campus tour which included a visit to the construction site of our new boarding house. The construction of the facilities is on track to be completed in just over 6 months from now, in April 2022. It will be just in time to welcome our participants to the NIC Bridging Programme and our next group of NIC Summer School students. In order to illustrate the design and look of the boarding house, large, coloured illustrations of the completed building were placed outside of the boarding house entrance.
As always, we took all possible health measures and were able to hold the event safely despite the renewed concern over the pandemic situation in Japan.
It is our last Open Campus before we open our admissions season on 1 November. So, Mr Kenki Shimizu, from the NIC Admissions Team, gave a thorough presentation on the application requirements and process. If you missed this time but would like to know more about NIC, please consider joining one of our upcoming online events which are held regularly. Moreover, our next Open Campus will be held on Wednesday, 3 November from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Plenty of chances remain this year for you to learn about NIC, talk to our admissions staff, see our facilities and have your questions answered.
