Visit of Nagoya International Junior High School (NIJS)

Today, Saturday 16 October, NIC welcomed 18 junior high school students and their parents from Nagoya International Junior High School (NIJS), which is the sister school of NIC located in downtown Nagoya. We were very happy to have these students spend the day with us and we treated them to a special NIC Information Session about the unique points of studying at NIC. It was an especially good opportunity for these students to see and hear about boarding school life from NIC House Director, Mr Toshikazu Shiozawa.

We hope that all of these students and their parents could understand the excellent opportunities that a boarding lifestyle can provide for them because it offers brand new rules, new relationships, and a new perspective on time management. Also, it allows students to live in an environment that will fit their physical, intellectual and moral development.

The programme that will be on offer at NIC is a double-degree programme, which means that NIC graduates will earn both the national Japanese high school diploma as well as the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme*. NIC Vice-Principal, Mr Koji Muto, gave an in-depth, but easy to understand presentation about the IB DP curriculum, teacher and learner profile, and the class structure. We hope everyone could identify themselves with that profile and will consider studying at NIC.

Today’s event also included a visit to the construction site of the NIC boarding house as part of the campus tour. It is amazing to see the transformation of the building which began as a concrete foundation last winter and now has transformed into a beautiful dormitory facility. The next stage will be the interior construction, but any visitor can easily imagine themselves living and studying as a high school boarder in this new building.

Finally, this is just a reminder that in roughly two weeks from today, the first official admissions season for NIC will open for hopeful students intent on applying for enrollment for the 2022-2023 academic year.
